I have wanted to be a midwife since my first pregnancy, but my dream of "delivering" babies stems back to my childhood. I was fascinated by babies, pregnancy, and childbirth at a young age. I used to make my little sister pretend to give birth while I caught her baby! I attended my first birth in 2001 and have never looked back. My unexpected c-section, followed by an empowering hospital VBAC, opened the door to doula work, which I did part-time while raising my five children. When they were older, I obtained a degree in direct-entry midwifery from Southwest Technical College, allowing me to pursue my long-held dream of becoming a midwife.
I am a Licensed Midwife in the State of Wisconsin and a Certified Professional Midwife through The North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). I am certified in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers every two years.
How our children enter this world can set the stage for our parenting journey. My three births at home were some of the most empowering and transformative moments of my life, and I hope to support you in this beautiful journey of welcoming your sweet baby earthside.
In addition to doula work and placenta encapsulation, I have facilitated numerous support groups over the years, including a c-section support group, parenting naturally, breastfeeding support and a teen mom’s group, as well as teaching childbirth education. I also served in multiple capacities as co-chair, treasurer and board member for C.A.R.E. Network of Wisconsin, a local support, education and networking resource for midwives, doulas, and others working with birthing families.
I value educating and supporting women/birthing people along with their families on how midwives safeguard emotional and physical health. I understand how birth has the power to transform or traumatize if not properly supported, and I want to walk alongside you during your journey as a guide while you grow your baby and give birth.
When not doing midwifery things, I enjoy reading, singing, playing guitar, songwriting, dancing, improving my French, and spending time with my family and friends, especially my granddaughter whose homebirth I was honored to assist at.
